Lukey Luke at qld ASBK

The 3rd round of the Australian Superbike Championships found us in sunny QLD, i have to say the weather was such a nice change from cold Melbourne!!  I called on fellow stunt rider and local brassy boy Milne to help me out over the weekend and he was great, only a few lil drops and impressed the hell out of me with his circle combo’s... Well done mate!  This weekend was special though, it was the first time MA had approved a 2up stuntride and it rest all on my shoulders.  I took sports Chaplin Richard Suter out on the bike for 3 laps of wheelies with a few attempted stoppies.  It was fun, he really enjoyed it and so did the crowd.  Later in the day it was time for it again, this time i took my very good friend and Superbike rider Cole Odendaal on the back, lets just say he was super comfy with the experience holding on with one hand while waving and blowing kisses to the crowd! Haha...  The stunt shows were great, the crowd was screaming and we had a ball, i even managed link a good 3 corners together in a 4th gear drift!  We will be back ther in only six weeks for the 4th round of the ASBK.

Phillip Island ride day with the R.A.T club 26 April Print E-mail
Lukey Luke at Phillip island

The R.A.T pack offen put on a get together for their members, usually rallys or road rides somewhere, this time it was a track day at the best racetrack in the world, Phillip Island, run by my good friend Kirby at Peter Stevens in Ringwood.  Kirby asked both Casella and myself to come along as guests for the day and have a ride with the Triumph enthusiasts.  Its been 7 years since ive thrown my leg over a trackbike and done some laps so i jumped at the opportunity!  This led me to another problem, i didn’t have a race suit anymore or boots or a trackbike for that matter... Thanks to my sponsors though Shift gave me a brand new wicked 1 peice suit, askew gave me some brand new boots and Triumph was nice enough to lend me their tricked out Daytona 675 for the day!  I had a ball!!!!!  I totally forgot how fun it was to circulate the track flat out with your knee on the deck, and boy had my riding style changed since my racing days, i guess stunt riding for all these years has made me alot more comfy on the bike and a little more loose!  The day went without a hitch, it was run beautifully and all the Triumph guys were great. Im really looking forward to doing another one.  Think i might just start saving my pennies for a trackbike again!

Triumph R.A.T Raid - Bathurst 17-18 April Print E-mail

Lukey Luke wheelies Rocket

It was the annual R.A.T raid (Riders association of Triumph) rally not long ago and Triumph decided to drag me along so I could make a skid and generally show off as i do!  It was great little event with Triumph enthusiasts coming from all over this fine country for the weekend some travelling from more than 2000k’s away on their bikes!  It was the first time this year i had my speed triple at an event and i realised afterwards how much i missed riding her, my skid maker as i call her, so much fun!!  Everyone loved the show and i really enjoyed riding for the triumph riders, i think the best part for both me and them was the opportunity to wheelie the rocket roadster again!!

ASBK Hidden Valley 8-11 April Print E-mail

Lukey at ASBK hidden valley

The beginning of April found me in Darwin for the second round of the ASBK at Hidden Valley raceway.  I called on my good friend Lucky trigga fingers for this round to come join me and wow the NT crowds. Wow we did…  I was on my brand new Triumph Street Triple R for its first official show and lest I say it was brilliant, didn’t skip a beat all weekend even in the sweltering sauna like conditions.   At 35 degrees and 98% humidity, we were in struggle town, neither of us having dealt with riding in heat like that before, Lucky bailing out on me after 15 minutes and leaving me to finish the 30 minute show by myself, I’d say he was the smart one!  The first show on the Friday I over heated and found myself  in the Racesafe medical centre being fed mars bars and Gatorade, while trying to cool down in front of the air con. Thanks for looking after me boys.  Add to this sporadical torrential down pours and it proved to be an interesting and eventful weekend.  Cant wait for next year...

Lukey Luke

Now some of you may know of bikecraft, a custom streetbike and street fighter shop in Melbourne producing some of the best street bikes and street fighters not just in Aus but all around the world.  I happen to be very good friends with the owner and they have been a long time sponsor of mine which led me to performing a small private show for them after a ride over Arthurs seat for their 10th anniversary.   Bikecraft has been known for not just their wicked streetbikes but their awesome partys and this one was no exception!! Chrissy party always being  one I wont miss!

Lukey Luke stoppie kiss

‘Stoppie In the Name of Love’

Valentine’s Day is commonly known as a romantic occasion for couples to express their love and appreciation for each other. People who recently attended Melbourne’s St. Kilda Festival on February 14th, witnessed a unique moment of romance...on one wheel!

Lukey Luke, Triumph and the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) official Stuntmaster pulled off an amazing ‘Stoppie Kiss’ with his admiring partner Frankie in front of a large crowd at the St. Kilda event. With the assistance of local sponsor ‘The Vineyard’, Lukey’s performances combined burnouts, circle wheelies and 180 degree stoppies, within a tight course packed mostly with non-motorcycle spectators. Crowd attendance and feedback was extremely well received.

The highlight of the shows occurred when Frankie, received a gentle kiss from her man after he completed a daring head-on stoppie with his Triumph Street Triple R’s rear wheel high in the air. The complete trust and confidence required for the stunt was impressive. “The stunt itself is not that difficult! It’s finding that special person in your life that trusts you completely, especially with their wellbeing,” Luke grinned. “I’m glad I could incorporate some romance into the show. This is my first time performing at the St. Kilda Festival, and considering how well things went today we will be aiming to be back next year!”

Rocket Roadster Launch 9th Feb 2010 Print E-mail
Lukey Luke wheeling the new Triumph Rocket Roadster

Being such a big part of Triumph motorcycles found me at the Launch of there new Rocket roadster at Heathcote Dragway.  We had all the magazines there for a day of drag racing fun on this new 2300cc beast!  Triumph wanted me to have a go at some wheelies and skids on it so I had the privilege of taking it home for a week leading upto the event to give it a go at my training ground.  What an amazing machine!! So much torque!! So much power… so much fun!! but when you want to cruise it, so nice to just ride aswell.  For most of that week I took advantage of it and took it up the hills with my girlfriend on the back, we spent a few days just riding it around and it was great.

Now to the launch…What a great day, we had a dragracing shootout between the editors of the magazines for the most part of the day and I performed a stunt show at lunch for them, firstly on my Street Triple R, then on the big girl, the Rocket Roadster… A few of the guys didn’t believe id get it up but much to their surprise, I did.  We also had Christian Casella the new Triumph aussie 600 supersport rider there so at the end of the day me and him went head to head down the drag strip, unfortunately for me I lost by .1 of a second… dam racers!! Hahaha..

2009 – 2010 and my deal with Triumph Print E-mail

New 2010 LLSTUNT banner

A well deserved break after a big 2009… And what a year it was, by far the biggest year LLSTUNT Entertainment has had to date.  It started on a brilliant note, I had a few meetings with Triumph Australia leading up to Christmas to try and nut out a deal for 2010. On Christmas eve we finalised the deal and I signed on the dotted line for another great 2 years!  Together we have some big plans for the years ahead so stay tuned.

After that it was time to relax, I spent a lot of time down the beach with friends, went away to Batemans bay for a week and visited my parents in rye a few times. As much as I wanted to ride I didn’t get out on the bike that much until late Jan. When I did though it was good times, the break did me well, I was riding well and happy o be back on it… Training and getting ready for a big 2010 planned.

Mudgee Christmas festival 19th Dec 2009 Print E-mail
Lukey Luke at Mudgee christmas festival 2009

The last show of 2009, the Mudgee Christmas Festival. With the help of my trusty right-hand man Luke, we loaded the van and headed for Sydney to catch up with Lucky from Team FTP who was riding with me for this event.  We stayed in Sydney that night and headed up as a convoy on the four hour drive to Mudgee on the Friday.

It was hot Saturday and the show didn’t start till 4pm, so we lazed around at the hotel pool till we had to get ready.  We did four shows for the enthusiastic crowd, which included a first for me—having Lucky (Mr Gymnastics himself) jump over me and my bike while I rode towards him at 60kmph.  Together we killed the show and everyone loved it, especially the kids.  A big thanks to Lucky for coming along and riding like a champion! Mudgee is a great little town in rural NSW. Everyone is so friendly and excited to have us there performing, it’s also the home of a friend of mine, Steve Mini from the Showtime Yamaha team. Over the year we’ve found ourselves performing together at a lot of events. When the festival was over we all got to celebrate a great show and a great end to 2009!c

The 32nd Annual Toy Run 12th Dec 2009 Print E-mail

Lukey Luke at the toy run 2009

I had the pleasure in December to ride for the 32nd annual Toy Run held in Williamstown, Melbourne by the Salvation Army.  It’s a charity event held annually to raise Christmas money and toys for less fortunate children and is always a great day out for a great cause!  I donated my services this year and entertained the 6000 plus motorcycle riders in attendance. It was an amazing view to see so many people and riders support the event and arrive with their bikes and bodies dressed up in Christmas decorations. There were bands, bikes, barbeques… and me! I’m already looking forward to next year’s event.

ASBK Round 7 Phillip Island 27-29 November Print E-mail
Lukey Luke at the ASBK

The final round of the Australian superbike series for 2009 and how appropriate it was to be at the best track in the world, Phillip Island to complete the year!!!  Id like to start with the racing side of things, I know I haven’t really kept anyone up to date with it as the years gone on but going into the final round, the championship still wasn’t decided with Glean Allerton, Josh waters and Wayne Maxwell all contenders this weekend was going to be exciting!

Saturday was the first day for me, I had my trusty Triumph Speed Triple there and was looking forward to making a mean skid!!  First show was fun, I hadn’t ridden the speed triple for a while so it was nice to blow out the cob webs before lunch… My lunch time show though was wicked!!! Sliding the thing all up and down the front straight with big 3rd and 4th gear burnouts I had all the teams out of their pit garages and the roof of the pits filled with screaming spectators!!

Sunday was the day for racing… I had one show in the morning as the lunchtime show was unfortunately cancelled with a few racing incidents putting the schedule a little behind time…  Firstly id like to say, congrats to Chas Hern, it was awesome seeing one of my best mates back on the podium finishing 3rd in the 600 Supersport race and putting Judd Greedys old bike back where it belongs… the podium!!

First superbike race saw Wayne Maxwell crash between turn 11 and 12 (check the vid out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMJrC9c2rD0) what a crash, this is where I broke my back 6 years ago but on a 250cc production bike, so he did amazingly well coming out of that one with a few strained muscles and some bumps and bruises.  That race restarted with Josh Waters taking it out over Glen Allerton, leaving the last race of the season the decider… Glen beats Josh, Glen wins… Josh beats Glen, Josh wins... It was exciting but in the end Josh Waters the rookie superbike rider took the race and with it the championship for 2009!!

I like to finish off in saying it has been a great year and a privilege to ride for the Australian Superbike series!! Ive said it before and ill say it again, I love to ride for the motorcycle crowds!  Im really looking forward to the 2010 series, a few tracks and a lot more rounds says its going to be a great year!!  Thanks guys…

Sydney Motorcycle Expo Homebush stadium 20-22 November Print E-mail
Lukey Luke at the Sydney Motorcycle Expo

Sydney Motorcycle expo 2009 and again Lukey Luke and Matt Mingay were there!!  Killing it for the Sydney crowds in the small area provided!!

Lukey Loves this event as its extremely up close and personal with the crowds making it easy to interact with them making them a big part of the show themselves!!

This year Lukey had 2 jobs, to not only perform on his Triumph Street Triple R but to do demo rides on the new Zero Motorcycles electric bike!!  The weekend started Friday, 6 am Lukey was there to perform a demo for sunrise on the electric bike…it was 42 degrees that day and believe me it felt like that at 6am!!  3 shows on the Triumph and 3 demo’s on the Electric bike took it out of him, but went off without a hitch!  Saturday was upon us, 4 shows, 4 demo’s and 2 stage appearances, it was also an extremely hot day but the crowds loved it and Lukey loved it!!  Unfortunately though, the last show on Saturday Lukey had a little off as he was climbing up to a Christ on the tank, he hit a rather large bump in the performance area coming off the back of the Street Triple R, getting caught up in the 12 pad and straining a ligament behind his right knee… The bike slid into the freestyle ramp damaging the radiator and leaving Lukey without a ride on the Sunday but the crowd extremely happy as they finally got to see a lil incident!!  Sunday Lukey was missing the bike, limping around but still making regular appearances in the performance arena, on stage and signings on the Triumph stand!!  Lukey’s disappointed he didn’t finish the event but is looking forward to the next expo and making up for the Sunday without a ride!!

V8 Supercars Phillip Island 7-8 November Print E-mail
Lukey Luke

V8 supercars again at the island in replace of the Bahrain round and this time it was Lukey Luke and John Puris with Matty in tassie at a hog rally…  The weekend went well, weather was hot, track temp was up and the shows were long!!  The crowd wasn’t massive this time as it was a last minute change to Phillip Island but they loved us as usual!!  Sunday was probably the most interesting of all days with Lukey wheeling down the front straight and a bee flew into his helmet getting caught in the corner of his eye… Lukey did well holding onto the bike, pulling the wheelie down, pulling over to the pit wall, tearing his helmet off and flicking the bee away only to get stung on the lower eye lid as he did… but the show must go on and it did!!!  Finishing off the 20 minute show and pulling in with a swollen eye!! Definitely a story to tell…

Bendigo Motorcycle expo 3 – 4 October Print E-mail
Lukey Luke at bendigo expo

Last weekend was the inaugural Bendigo Motorcycle expo, being held at the Bendigo showgrounds.  Lukey Luke was there for entertainment and entertain he did!! With an extremely small performance area (a footpath and a very small square area just big enough to circle in) Lukey was worried the show might be an extremely difficult one, but was nevertheless up for the challenge.  Surprising himself and rather enjoying the challenge Lukey entertained and amazed the crowd, riding ever so precisely in the small area provided and using the props available to him like a bench seat that he could park a stoppie on and I permanently mounted bollard…

It was an up close and personal show with the crowd all on the edge of the performance area Lukey was able to involve them a whole lot more, high fiving the kids and making jokes with the spectators.  We’re definitely looking forward to getting back to Bendigo for next years expo…
